The special characteristics of the skin around the eyes
Thin skin
The skin thickness around the eyes is only about 0.5 mm, whereas skin in other areas of the body is typically twice as thick. This makes the skin more sensitive and prone to wrinkles and fine lines. While skin gets thinner with increasing age, blood vessels near the surface can start to show and cause dark circles or a blueish color under the eyes.
Reduced lipid production
There are very few sebaceous glands in the skin around the eyes, and therefore it does not get naturally lubricated. This is why the skin is prone to dryness and injuries.
Proneness to loss of elasticity
Due to blinking and facial expressions, the skin around the eyes is constantly moving. Blinking alone happens about 10 000 times a day, and gives rise to a mechanical burden on the skin. This repeating action requires flexibility, but as the collagen and fibrin fibers are thinner, and they are scarcer, this particular skin area is prone to loss of elasticity. This, in turn, leads to sagging, whereby the surface of the skin resembles crêpe paper.
The skin reveals changes in blood supply
The skin around the eyes has a lot of capillaries, and when the blood flow decreases due to tiredness, stress or genetic factors, fluid retention or dark circles may appear around the eyes. The circulation of lymph is usually slower in the area around the eyes, and therefore fluids may accumulate and there may be edema and visible ”bags” under eyes.
Sensitivity to UV radiation and environmental stress factors
The thinness of the skin and its low amount of pigment make it prone to sun-induced damage, which can accelerate disruption of collagen, development of an uneven tone and formation of wrinkles. Pollution, make-up and harsh skin care products may cause irritation and skin injury.
The benefits of Tience® in nurturing the skin around the eyes
In human studies, Tience has been shown to increase the formation of structural proteins in skin cells. These structural proteins play an important role in enhancing the vitality of the skin and reinforcing its most important task, which is to provide a protective barrier around the body. In the area around the eyes, Tience works in a holistic manner by influencing all five core areas:
Tience affects the thinness of the skin
Activation of keratinocytes strengthens the renewal of the outmost layer of the skin and makes skin thicker. This strengthening of the thin skin area conceals darkness under the eyes in the most natural manner.
Tience affects lipid production
Tience fortifies the endogenous production of lipids and hyaluronic acid and enhances the moisture balance in the skin around the eyes, thereby preventing it from drying-out and becoming damaged.
Tience affects the elasticity of the skin
Collagen and elastin increase the flexibility and elasticity of the skin and make it firmer. Recovery of firmness fades out the wrinkles around the eyes.
Tience affects the skin blood flow
An intensified blood supply enables a long-lasting, enhancing effect which restores the youthful brightness of the skin.
Tience affects previous skin injuries caused by environmental factors
In clinical studies, Tience has been shown to efficiently repair skin defects. The bioactive ingredients of Tience boost the innate repair mechanisms of the human skin. Thanks to the treatment, one can achieve a smoother skin around the eyes and even out its tone.
